History

New Hope Farm Consulting, LLC is a culmination of farm life experiences. It began when the founder, Jeff Helgen, started “farming” shag carpeting with toy tractors in the early 1970’s. After watching the hustle and bustle around the farm out the windows, the love for farming was forever engrained. Growing up helping in the hog buildings and shop, Jeff found a natural fit. He joined in on more farm duties, graduating from “go fer” to operating equipment (barely able to reach the clutch on the  JD 4020) and working alongside other family members on the multi-generation farm.  As early adopters of technology in the mid-1990’s, it became necessary to have software to handle the latest technology. This led to software consulting and training opportunities with fellow farmers across the Midwest. There was a need to feed the personal hunger of always wanting more useful information with a heavy focus on financial, marketing, and GPS data. The creation of a massive spreadsheet by Jeff, tweaked over many years, became the robust version it is today. This tool gave us the confidence in knowing where we’ve been, where we are at, and where we are heading.  Jeff elected to retire from the family farm at the end of 2023 to follow his passion, allowing the next generation to maximize their talents on the family farm. Jeff established New Hope Farm Consulting to help fellow farmers, utilizing his knowledge and experience from being part of a multi-generation family farm.
